Reflection of Activities During PRIA Academy in India

 Introduction 

A visit to a foreign country is the dream of everyone, not least the author. Since established as one of the program participants SCCO (Short Course Community Outreach) some time before, in the writer's mind imagine the state that will be addressed, although two years previously to Singapore. At the beginning of the diktis not specify which country would be the short course program objectives. Had appeared some of the new information that will be selected, including Canada, Austria, Australia and India. However, due to various considerations of the diktis, India established as a goal SCCO program in 2016. As a program participant short course, any and any country which is the goal of learning the author became a party good with grateful, although previously some participants expect short course his goal to European countries.

 

SCCO Program (Short Course Community Outreach)

               This program is an annual routine Sub Director of Research, Service and Scientific publication Diktis MORA RI for four weeks or more in college or institution that has the experience of community empowerment. It is intended to perform optimization benchmarking organization of Community Outreach. SCCO in 2013 and 2014 held in Canada. 2015 to be held in India and Australia and this year was held in India again.

               This program is an aid program that provides opportunities for academics PTKI, functional personnel researchers and academic staff within a certain time to be given insights on strengthening the role of universities in community engagement.

Event Short Course Community Outreach MORA 2016's, packed a little different to the previous year. If previous years SCCO program with several universities in the country of destination, this time took an institution focusing handle social service in India. PRIA Academy, is the designation for the institution are well known in the city of New Delhi India.

Experience in PRIA

               The first day of the session Introduction and Welcome, Dr. Rojesh Tandon one tutor at the Academy PRIA convey Learning Agenda for SCCO activities in New Delhi India. Among leaning agenda relating to the material is the room; Participatory Research, Community Engagement, Women Empowerment, Rural Development (Agriculture, Animal Husbandry), and Environment Climate.

               Next in the session also conveyed What the Mora delegates will prepare? Among others are ; Reading, Reflection on applications, Assignments, Participatory Research Project will be on 12th December, the write up to 500 words will be on 1st December, and Your presentation (5 Slides) will be on 8th December, said Dr. Rojesh Tandon.

               The participants SCCO originating from the lecturers and researchers from various PTKI in Indonesia The first day also receive materials Dr. Rajesh Tandon, related some important points relationship "Higher Education" with the program "Community Engagement" along with the key question. There are three (3) important points, namely Teaching, Reseach and Service. He elaborated further as follows; a. Teaching: The purpose of teaching is learning-Community engagement can help improve learning. Key Question: How can community engagement, improve learning? b. Research- The purpose of research is knowledge building. Knowledge Resides in the community. Key Question: How can community engagement, improve the quality of knowledge? c. Service: Service is mostly understood as welfare towards the community. This does not have a lasting impact on the communities in the long run. An empowering approach will analyze the issues the community rendering disempowered. Key Question: How can community engagement leads to empowerment of the community?

               Next in the first week, SCCO activities accompanied by various activities that integrate activities and visits lapanagan room. On the first visit, after receiving the material from Dr. Tandon Rojesh SCCO participants are invited to visit one herritage travel in New Delhi India, Qutab Minar. Qutab Minar building was founded by Qutabuddin Aibak in 1193 AD It is said that the era of the building known as the first Islamic kingdom in the land of New Delhi India. SCCO last participants on the first day was closed by visiting one of the famous gardens in India's The Garden of Five Senses. "

Field Visit

               On the next day the participants SCCO consisting of 12 people invited to the committee of the academy's PRIA delhi visit. There are several destination (goal) visits to be observed by the participants SCCO. Bahai tample / lotus tample, jama Masjid, grave of Mahatma Ghandi, the Indian Gate, Parliament House of India and the president. The fifth goal on the second day the participants were able to visit and take pictures according to your desired views.

               The attitude and actions of all participants SCCO so enthusiastic when moving from one destination to the next destination. This is understandable because almost all of the participants have never been to India before. Delivered by Indian standards and Innova car with a driver that is interesting, sometimes-because most drivers can only speak of India and could not speak English. This makes SCCO participants are not always able to communicate with the driver who accompanied us to each of the goals set.

               In the last two weeks of activities participants SCCO Ponipat been to Sonipat and Haryana region, and several villages built PRIA academy in Jhansi area. Similarly, the general picture that has been done PRIA academy institution against the target area that has been done. Results seurvey and experience in Sonipat and Panipat provide examples and an incredible experience of India, hopefully the results of the visit and dialogue with the people of India in general could provide new insight for the development of service activities in Indonesia.
